The Triple ByPass

No, I am not having heart surgery. I am participating in an overt act of Flagellation I am participating in a long bike ride in about a week and a half.  The ride is known as the Triple ByPass because it goes over three mountain passes in one long ride completed (at least that’s the plan) in one day.   To save you the trouble of looking it up, it is 120 miles going from Evergreen, Colorado to Avon, Colorado. As far as smart decisions that I have made, I am ranking it right up there with the day that I decided to run a marathon.  It is something that you must do once in your life.   Or in my case, sometimes you don’t think that once is enough.  Foreshadowing coming……..wait……..wait……wait……OK.  I signed up for the Chicago Marathon that takes place in October.  Conveniently, that is the weekend that my nephew is due.  What was my brother thinking when he planned that?  Anyway, I am a little nervous but feeling good about my training for the Triple.  Wish me luck.  I will post pictures or at least links to pictures when it is completed.

Social Computing on the SharePoint Platform

I saw an interesting post this evening by Mike Gotta, an analyst with the Burton Group.  He wrote a post where he puts the vendors offering social computing solutions around SharePoint into buckets depending on their level of integration with SharePoint.  I think that he got it essentially right, we at NewsGator have been watching the marketing hype by other vendors when they announce “SharePoint Integration”.  We obviously know what our integration level is and I think that customers will be a little  confused  when they try to  sort out who does what with SharePoint.  I think that some companies announcing SharePoint integration are only really offering a single webpart or reading data from SharePoint.   I think that NewsGator Social Sites has a “just right” level of integration.    Check it out if you are looking into Social Computing around the SharePoint platform.

As you can see…..

I am a complete idiot when it comes to using the WordPress dashboard. I promise to fix the site layout shortly. In reference to a post written by one Brad Feld, I suck at WordPress design and configuration. It is one of the reasons that I started this blog, I want to suck less at it. So here goes my journey into the land of public expression. More to follow….
